Louisiana Jitterbug
Louisiana Jitterbug is
what everybody’s dancing, on every dance floor, everywhere
you go. And now, you can too. Come with little or no
experience and master basic steps and turns in this FUN
4-week course. Class music will feature Louisiana artists.
Certified
dance instructor Paula Lafleur will help you learn cool and
popular jitterbug moves to make you a more skilled dance
partner, have more confidence on the dance floor, and let
YOU have more fun, too!

Water Aerobics
If you are looking for a good all-around form
of aerobic exercise, why not try water aerobics?
Come enjoy an hour with friends while you improve your
cardiovascular fitness, strength, stamina, and flexibility.
Exercise in the water also helps increase joint movement and
reduce stress. You will use a noodle and flat boards for
your workout.

Sawtooth Star Quilts
Learn to
make beautiful star blocks without having to match points!
This quilt is easy enough for beginners, but still very fun
for more advanced quilters. You'll begin a lap-sized quilt
in class, finishing at least 25% of your blocks on the day
of class. This pattern is easy and can be made into a
beautiful gift for someone special. Fat quarter friendly
for a scrappy look, or it can be made with coordinated
fabrics.

Very Square Quilts
A very simple pattern that is fun to sew,
this pattern looks great coordinated or made from scraps.
It can even be made using the 2 1/2 inch strips from jelly
rolls. Plus it wastes NO fabric! Easy enough for
beginners, fun for more advanced quilters and FAST, FAST,
FAST. A great way to get started with quilting or to make a
quick gift for someone, this class will teach a pattern you
will use again and again.

Computing for the
Terrified
This course
is for people who have never used a computer or have very
limited experience. Students will learn the basics of
computing, e-mail use, and Internet basics with an emphasis
on the World Wide Web. File management, operating
systems and four basic applications (word processing,
spreadsheets, databases, and presentation graphics) will be
introduced. Upon completion of this course, students
will be ready to enjoy wider use of their computers and be
prepared to take a beginning course in computer applications
programs. The course offers 12 hours of instruction
and 3 hours of supervised lab time to practice new skills.

Basic
Grant Writing
This
course introduces the sections of a basic grant, outlining
the content of each section. The focus of the course is
grant development. If you have read the “how-to” books, but
feel that you need more insight to develop a
well-constructed and persuasive grant, this class will help
you build skills and confidence. Students will learn
techniques for eliciting creative ideas, how to plan a
timeline that allows for the reviews and revisions needed to
perfect the grant, and how to develop a budget. Upon
completion of this course, students be prepared to develop a
basic grant, understand the importance of presentation of
material, and will understand the elements that funders look
for in grant proposals.

Sales and
Negotiation
The
course will cover the complete sales process, beginning with
prospecting and proceeding through greeting the customer,
establishing and maintaining rapport, reading the customer
using individual modalities and personality types, and
detecting and interpreting verbal and non-verbal cues (also
known as Poker Tells), methods for overcoming objections,
and various types of closes. Special instruction on 1) more
productive use of the telephone, 2) dealing with
dissatisfied (angry) customers, and 3) game theory.
