Here is a listing of the classes, grade levels, costs, and meeting times
for LSUE's Little College on the Prairie.
This summer enrichment program is open to all students.

Swimming Instruction: All Grades

• Beginning Swimming (all grades)
Cost $60
A learning course for non-swimmers.
Two classes: 8:00-8:50 a.m. or 9:00-9:50 a.m. Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks, June 9-26
PE Building Room 105 (H 105)

Students must have completed Pre-K to be eligible to register.  For non-swimmers it is advised that they come to class with a swim training/safety flotation device.  A life jacket is not recommended.  These may be bought at local Wal-Mart or Academy Stores.

• Intermediate Swimming (all grades)
Cost $60:
Skills improvement for recreational swimming.
10:00-10:50 a.m. • Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks • June 9-26
PE Building Room 105 (H 105)


Story Time and Craft (Youth ages 4-7)
Cost $35 •
Supply fee: $5 to be paid to instructor on first day of class.
Students will listen to a story and do a craft related to the story.
10:00 – 11:00 a.m. • Monday thru Friday • June 2-6
PE Building, Room 204. (H 204)


Fun Art (Ages 5-8)
Cost $35 • Supply fee: $5 to be paid to instructor on first day of class.
Students will create art projects for age appropriate level.
Monday thru Friday • June 9-13
• 9 a.m.- 10 a.m.

Fun Science (Youth grades 2-8)
Cost $40 • Supply fee: $5 to be paid to instructor on first day of class
Students will learn earth science through fun, hands-on inquiry based investigations.
Monday thru Friday • July 14-18
Session I • Grades 2-4 • 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Session II • Grades 5-8 • 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Song and Dance (Ages 4-7)
Cost $35 • Supply fee: $5 to be paid to instructor on first day of class
Learn songs and dance or actions of different children's songs.
Monday thru Friday • June 9-13

 Jewelry Making (Youth grades 2-7)
Cost $40 • Supply fee: $6 to be paid to instructor on first day of class
Come join the fun of making jewelry.  Choose to make key chains, bracelets and more!
Monday thru Friday • June 16-20
Session I • Grades 2-4 • 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Session II • Grades 5-7 • 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

Becoming an Expert Deer Hunter for Young Hunters (Ages 11-15)
Cost $65
Students will learn the 12 steps to becoming an expert deer hunter, how to age deer, how to choose deer stand sites, important hunter safety skills, and will earn their hunter safety card if they complete the entire course.  Instructors will be both an expert hunter instructor and a Wildlife and Fisheries safety instructor.

Mondays • June 16-23 • 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday • June 28 • Day-long field trip in the Atchafalaya Basin.

By Mail. Mail the Continuing Education registration form and a check payable to LSUE to Office of Continuing Education, P.O. Box 1129, Eunice, LA 70535. 

Walk In. The Continuing Education Office is located in Room 114 of the LSUE Acadian Center. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 M-F.

Pre-registration is required. Grade level may be determined either by grade finished or grade entering.

Register early to reserve places. Classes will be closed once enrollment reaches maximum limits.


Office of Continuing Education Policies

Deadlines
Please register early for classes whenever possible due to the fact that classes may fill up quickly.  Classes may also be cancelled before the first day for insufficient enrollment.  Our office needs to have a head count of students enrolled at least one week before classes start.

Confirmations
Registration confirmation will be sent upon receipt of your form.  If the class is cancelled or if the class is full, you will be contacted prior to the beginning of the class.  We make every effort to notify registrants at least three days in advance when a class is cancelled.  If the class is full, your child’s name will be added to a waiting list.

Refund Policy

  • If LSUE cancels a class due to low enrollment, the fee will be automatically refunded.  No paperwork is required.  Please allow six to eight weeks for the refund to be processed.
  • Registrants will receive a full refund if a class is full.
  • Registrations may drop a class and receive a full refund if LSUE Office of Continuing Education is notified at least five (5) business days in advance of the class start date.
  • If a registrant withdraws within four (4) days of the start date, a processing fee of $10 will be withheld and the balance of the cost of the course will be refunded.
  • No refunds or credits will be issued for a course once the course begins.
